Excel Journal Import by Chase Software
What the app provides according to Chase Software
Create journal lines in Microsoft Excel and import them directly into Business Central
No need to create a specific Excel layout or template
Supports all fields in the General Journal Line table, even new or custom fields as well as Global Dimensions and Shortcut Dimensions
This app can be used to speed up data migration by importing opening balances or detailed transactions from Excel
Installation
Very simple. No configuration needed.
During installation of the app, a new action is added to the following Journal Pages:
1. Cash Receipt Journal
2. Fixed Asset G/L Journal
3. General Journal
4. IC General Journal
5. Job G/L Journal
6. Payment Journal
7. Purchase Journal
8. Recurring General Journal
9. Sales Journal
You can start three different ways:
1. From scratch
Open up a new excel worksheet and enter your column headings in the first row. Column headings must match the column headings on your journal page.
All rows below the first row can be used to capture journal lines.
Enter Information
Save
Select process on Journal page in Business Central and import into BC.
2. By copying lines from an existing journal
Select the lines you want to copy in the journal page.
Press Ctrl + C
Paste the lines into your Excel document
Edit
Save
Select process on Journal page in Business Central and import saved document.
3. By copying ledger entries from Business Central
Select the ledger entries you want to copy
Press Ctrl + C
Paste in Excel
Save
Import into Business Central
Works as advertised just have to be sure that your Excel Column headings match the column headings on your journal page.
