Avalara is Changing Extended Data Access

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

Padlock on door

Avalara has changed their policy regarding AvaTax subscribers ability to access historical data. As of September 15, 2020 Avalara will only be allowing free access to transactional data from the current and previous calendar year, unless customers purchase extended data storage.

Here's the official email from Avalara

Hi,

Beginning later this year, Avalara is changing extended data access included with Avalara subscriptions. Avalara Returns subscriptions will include access to transaction data stored in the current and previous three calendar years only, unless you purchase extended data storage. This change will not impact Returns data, just transaction data. According to our records, your business uses an Avalara Returns filing solution and will be impacted by this change.

What do you need to do?

Right now, nothing. If you’d like to purchase access to transaction data recorded before January 1, 2017, you must do so before your Avalara AvaTax renewal date of [AvaTax renewal date]. If you choose to not purchase extended data storage, access to your available data will change after your AvaTax renewal date.

For more information about extended date storage, please read this help center article.

Thanks,

Avalara
