Truly Hard Seltzer
Truly site: Truly Vodka Sodas are made with real fruit juice from concentrate, natural fruit flavors and premium, 6x distilled vodka derived from corn so they’re naturally gluten free.
White Claw® Hard Seltzer
White Claw web site: Made from a blend of seltzer water, our gluten free alcohol base, and a hint of fruit flavor. Check below to see our full ingredients and nutrition labels.
Wikipedia: The beverage is made from a blend of seltzer water, a gluten-free malted alcohol base, and fruit flavor.[2] The alcohol base (termed "beer base" in customs rulings) is composed of 51% sugar, smaller amounts of yeast and nutrients, water, and trace amounts of "malted gluten-free grains".
Zima
(per Article on vox.com): In 1993, Coors introduced a drink called Zima, as a response to popular similarly low-ABV beverages like wine coolers. Yet Zima, despite strong sales and nearly half of American alcohol drinkers having tried it, was met largely with ridicule.
Zima left the shelves in 2008 and, despite a brief resurrection in 2017, is now no longer in production.
The new class of hard seltzer arose in 2013 with a brand aptly named SpikedSeltzer.
In 2019, Hard Seltzers had a market/sales of approx. $550M. At that time, it was projected that the total market would be approx. $2.5B in sales by 2021.
Statistica: 2023/2024, the combined market size (at home, out-of-home) is $19B and projected to grow to $30+B by 2027, $65+B by 2033.
Different sites/research firms have different estimates, but all indicate significant long-term growth.
